Collect all the written materials your vet can give you. Ask him or her for other sources (see Living with Canine Lymphosarcoma - Clondike's Story for useful references). VHUP gave us handouts discussing Cancer Terminology and Symptoms; Cancer in Companion Animals; Lymphosacroma in Dogs; Nutritional Requirements of Dogs and Cats with Cancer (practical advice about food aversion); and Quality of Life Issues – Cancer Treatment in the Companion Animal (a thought provoking discussion about the goals of treatment). Several of these documents are accessible in our Links along with other Internet sources we have identified. Be critical of what you read: even authoritative sources are sometimes contradictory.
